Height: 2m
Spacing: 50cm
Bloom period: February-March. You only get one cut off each stem, but you can do a 'Chelsea Chop' in November (cut each stem back by at least half) to have some thinner stems blooming later on in March. I started with it in 30 cm spaced holes in weedmat, but it spreads just unter the ground, so I cut the weedmat off it and had so many new flowering stems the following season. You can cut it at the green plume sage in about February or wait until the yellow flowers open in March. If you pick it to dry, it continues to open, so don't leave it until the flowers are too open or it will fall apart. Dried plumes are beige and fluffy.
The bees, bumblebees and pollinators love this plant. It can be propagated easily by division.
Supplied in August as dormant bare-rooted plant divisions with a little soil/sawdust and wrapped in moist paper. Plant straight away in warmer climates, or pot up in a sheltered spot (e.g. greenhouse/coldframe) or store in lightly damp sawdust for up to a month before planting.
The price is for 5 bare-root divisions. Each one will become a plant.
